Hearing Device Servicing & Repairs

It is common for most hearing devices to require a repair over their lifetime. The small electronics inside hearing aids are exposed to ear wax and humidity from the ear canal as well as dust and debris from the environment. The following are common examples of when a hearing device repair may be needed:

    • Device does not amplify even after replacing the battery
    • Device sounds distorted
    • Batteries seem to only last several days or hours
    • Battery door won’t close, is stuck or broke off the device
    • Device sounds weak or not as strong as it used to
    • Constant hum or static
    • Constant whistling
    • Water exposure from shower, swimming
    • Cracked or broken from being dropped, stepped on or damaged by a pet

Whether you purchased your hearing devices from Peninsula Hearing Services or somewhere else, we will most likely be able to repair a device. Some repairs can be performed in the office.  We provide evaluations to assess the functioning of your hearing aid and discuss with you if any repairs are needed.

If the aid cannot be repaired in the office, it most likely can be repaired by the manufacturer that typically includes a 12-month warranty. We service devices from the top 6 manufacturers: Resound, Oticon, Phonak, Starkey, Widex and Siemens.  Most manufacturers will repair hearing aids for up to 5 years from the date of purchase and some repairs can be made on devices older than 5 years.
