John Folmar is a California licensed dispensing Doctor of Audiology (Au #2029) who has been practicing audiology since 2000. He was introduced to the field of audiology through his father, who is an Ear, Nose & Throat physician in the Southern California area where he grew up. He has worked in several areas of audiology.
During the first 7 years into the field, he worked for a private practice and then for a large HMO hospital where he primarily dispensed hearing devicesl. Following that, he worked as a research audiologist for 6 ½ years with a hearing device manufacturer where he was involved with various phases of research, development and design of a new hearing device product.
Dr. Folmar’s philosophy is focused on the consumer. Consultations to discuss and understand your hearing needs, 45-day trial periods of new hearing products when possible and “assisting” the consumer to make their own decisions regarding services and products guides his approach.
Please visit the Hearing Devices page to view warranty and pricing information for new hearing devices. If you already own a hearing device and are satisfied with it but feel it needs an adjustment or repair, please visit the Hearing Device Servicing & Repairs page.
Dr. Folmar received a Master’s degree in Audiology from Northwestern University in 2000. He later earned a doctorate in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2005. For the past two years, he has served as an examiner for the California Department of Consumer Affairs Hearing Aid Dispenser’s examination conducted in Sacramento, CA.
